Volunteer Testimony for Ukraine

From the very first day of the invasion, I dedicated all my energy to supporting those affected by the war, setting aside every other concern and working tirelessly to find solutions for aid. I evacuated over 4,000 civilians, transporting them to Germany and France with the support of FlixBus Romania—a company I contacted on the very first day of the invasion, seeking help as a filmmaker and volunteer. Mr. Adrian Popa, Director of FlixBus Romania, can confirm my involvement, as I coordinated the dispatch of three buses per day and managed the logistics of evacuees from Sighet, Siret, and Isaccea.

In my efforts, I worked directly with the Romanian authorities, organizing logistics together with the Inspectorates for Emergency Situations (ISU) and border structures. Among those I collaborated with were:

  • State Secretary ISU, Mr. Silviu Stoian

  • Colonel Petrov (ISU Isaccea) – +40746238793 (for confirmation)

  • Colonel Parasca Constantin Mihai (Commander of the Siret Refugee Camp)

  • Colonel Buhaianu (ISU Siret)

  • Lt. Colonel Pulbere Marian and Lt. Colonel Buzdugan Sergiu (ISU Halmeu)

  • Lt. Colonel Pițiș (ISU Sighet)

  • Chief Inspector Toma Ion (ISU Galați)

  • Colonel Tătaru Nicolae (ISU Vaslui)

I facilitated the transfer of two ambulances into Ukraine. Dr. Genadii Siabrenko, Head of the Veterans’ Hospital in Kropyvnytskyi, Korolenko Street 58, can confirm the connection I established with Mr. Raed Arafat and the reception of another properly equipped private resuscitation ambulance. I was actively involved in coordinating logistics needs, drafting emergency supply lists, and mobilizing resources from civil society.

I succeeded in raising significant monetary donations, directed to ISU and the Red Cross through the generosity of civilian donors, most notably Ana Sâmbătă.

I designed and implemented lighting setups for the Siret refugee camps alongside Mayor Adrian Popoiu, gathering lighting trucks from XTR Logistic, gaffer Cornel “Piciu,” and Răzvan Tzoc (DRT Rental).

Additionally, I organized and delivered humanitarian aid into Ukraine, managing to collect trucks of 20 tons of supplies, which I personally delivered twice to children in conflict zones through the associations Anaid, Core Romania, and Blood for Romania. I coordinated shipments of donations coming from across Europe via FlixBus Romania and directed the aid into Ukraine in collaboration with trusted volunteers such as Vasile Vlașin and Eduard Axente from Sighet and Isaccea.

Throughout this work, I received extraordinary support from exceptional individuals, including Ambassador Valentin Muntean and Consul Andrei Sîrbulescu, whose presence and guidance were essential, particularly during times when the trucks entered dangerous areas under the threat of mines.

Beyond my field activity, I represented Ukraine’s cause at the Cannes Film Festival, participating as a filmmaker volunteer for the war victims under the “Stand for Ukraine” initiative. There, I conveyed to the world the message of Romanian solidarity and the tireless support Romania has offered to the victims of this war.

I am an internationally awarded filmmaker for short fiction films and served as Deputy Director of the Sibiu Centenary celebrations, as well as coordinator of the Cadets of the Land Forces Academy Sibiu (2018).
